Itinerary
On arrival at Varanasi Airport or Railway Station, transfer to your hotel and complete the check-in formalities. Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, lies gracefully on the banks of the sacred River Ganges. Known by many names—Varanasi, Benaras, and in ancient times, Kashi—the city is revered as one of the holiest places in Hinduism. It is believed that taking a dip in the holy waters of the Ganges cleanses one of all sins and purifies the soul.
In the evening, experience the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti, a spiritual ceremony of worship performed on the ghats of the river. The sight of countless lamps floating on the water and the rhythmic chants create an unforgettable atmosphere.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Varanasi.
Early in the morning, enjoy a serene boat ride on the River Ganges, offering a magnificent view of the sunrise and the early morning rituals performed on the ghats. Witness devotees engaged in prayers and ablutions — a truly spiritual experience that captures the essence of Varanasi.
Return to the hotel for breakfast. Later, proceed for a city tour of Varanasi, exploring its rich heritage and sacred temples. Visit the Durga Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, and Bharat Mata Temple, each showcasing unique aspects of the city’s spiritual and cultural legacy. Continue to the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), one of India’s most prestigious educational institutions.
In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion to Sarnath, located a few kilometers from Varanasi. This revered site holds immense significance for Buddhists — it is where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya. In the Deer Park, a stupa marks the spot of this historic event.
Emperor Ashoka, a devoted follower of Buddhism, constructed several stupas and chaityas here, many of which still stand today. The most notable among them are the Dhamekh Stupa, built in 249 BCE, and the Chaukhandi Stupa, dating back to the 5th century CE. Explore the Sarnath Museum, home to an impressive collection of Buddhist relics and artifacts, including the Ashoka Pillar (Ashok Stambha) — now the national emblem of India.
