This journey takes travelers through the cultural heart of Leh, the historic monasteries of Alchi, Likir, and Hemis, the mesmerizing confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, and the famous Magnetic Hill. Experience the thrill of crossing Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes, explore the sand dunes of Nubra Valley on a double-humped camel safari, and witness the stunning beauty of Pangong Lake. Blending natural wonders, rich heritage, spiritual tranquility, and high-altitude adventure, Ladakh offers an experience that remains etched in memory long after the journey ends.
Itinerary
Arrive at Leh Airport and receive a warm welcome from our representative, followed by a transfer to your hotel for check-in and relaxation. Take some time to acclimatize and rest during the first half of the day, allowing your body to adjust to the high altitude of Ladakh.
After lunch (subject to suitability), begin your sightseeing with a visit to the historic Leh Palace, a 17th-century royal residence built by King Singge Namgyal, offering a glimpse into Ladakh’s royal heritage and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Continue to Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, and its association with King Tashi Namgyal’s historic victory over Central Asian invaders. Later, visit the serene Shanti Stupa, a white-domed structure built as a symbol of world peace, offering stunning views of Leh and its surrounding mountains.
Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Leh.
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Leh and its surrounding cultural and natural landmarks. Begin your journey with a drive to the historic Alchi Monastery (approximately 70 km), one of the oldest and most renowned monasteries in Ladakh, built in the 11th century by the great translator Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo, known for its exquisite wall paintings and unique architecture.
Continue to Likir Monastery (around 55 km), founded in 1065 A.D. by Lama Duwang Chosje, belonging to the Gelugpa sect, and admired for its impressive statue of Lord Buddha and scenic hilltop location. En route, a packed lunch may be provided (optional).
On your return, visit the Hall of Fame, a war memorial museum dedicated to the bravery of Indian soldiers, followed by Spituk Monastery, located just 7 km from Leh and established in the 11th century, offering panoramic views of the Indus Valley. Later, stop at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a sacred Sikh pilgrimage site, and experience the unique natural phenomenon of Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to move uphill against gravity. Conclude the day at the breathtaking Sangam point, the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, located around 35 km from Leh.
Return to your hotel in Leh for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, proceed towards Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), one of the world’s highest motorable roads and the gateway to the Siachen region. Enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-covered Himalayas as you cross this iconic high-altitude pass.
Upon arrival in Nubra Valley, check in to your hotel/camp and relax. Later, visit Hunder Village, famous for its unique cold desert landscape and picturesque sand dunes. Enjoy an unforgettable double-humped Bactrian camel safari (optional), a unique experience found only in this part of the Himalayas.
If time permits, you may also visit the historic Diskit Monastery, home to the impressive Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley.
Return to your hotel/camp for dinner and an overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
After an early breakfast, depart towards Spangmik/Pangong via the Shyok route (preferred), one of the most scenic and remote routes in the region. Please note that, depending on weather or road conditions, an alternate route via Leh/Wari La may be taken, which may result in a longer travel time.
En route, pass through Diskit, a peaceful town known for its monastery and desert landscapes, followed by Khalser, a small settlement along the Shyok River offering rugged valley views. Continue through Agham, a quiet junction point surrounded by dramatic mountain terrain, and Warila, a high-altitude pass known for its challenging roads and panoramic vistas. Further ahead lies Sakthi, a scenic stretch offering striking views of the surrounding valleys, and Zingral, a remote high-altitude region known for its raw Himalayan beauty. Proceed through Chang La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes, offering breathtaking snow-clad views, then Tangste, a small village known for its military presence and serene surroundings, and finally Lukung, the last village near Pangong, marking the gateway to the lake.
Arrive at the breathtaking Pangong Lake, renowned for its crystal-clear waters and ever-changing shades of blue. Upon arrival, check in to your camps and relax amidst the serene Himalayan landscape.
Overnight stay at Camps.
After breakfast, check out from the camps and begin your return journey to Leh. En route, visit Hemis Monastery, one of the largest and most significant monasteries in Ladakh, known for its serene atmosphere, rich cultural heritage, and beautiful mountain setting. Continue to the famous 3-Idiots School, a popular filming location surrounded by scenic landscapes, where you can enjoy a short photo stop.
Later, proceed towards Leh and check in to your hotel. The evening is free for relaxation after the journey.
Overnight stay in Leh.
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely day in Leh at your own pace. Explore the vibrant Leh Market, where you can shop for traditional Ladakhi handicrafts, pashmina shawls, Tibetan souvenirs, and local delicacies. Spend time relaxing at one of the town’s charming cafés, stroll through the local streets, or opt for additional sightseeing based on your interests. The rest of the day is free to unwind and soak in the unique atmosphere of Leh before your departure. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Leh.
Early morning transfer to Leh Airport to board your onward flight, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Ladakh’s breathtaking landscapes, serene monasteries, and unique high-altitude experiences.
