Itinerary
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport and meet your Bhutanese representative for a warm welcome. Begin your scenic drive to Phuentsholing, a journey of 4 hours through beautiful foothill landscapes and gradually changing vistas as you approach the Indo–Bhutan border.
On arrival in Phuentsholing, check in to your hotel and relax after the journey. If time permits in the evening, step out for a leisurely walk through the lively Phuentsholing market, where you can experience the local atmosphere, shops, and street life.

After completing your entry permit formalities, begin a picturesque drive to Thimphu, covering approximately 180 km in about 6 hours. The journey offers stunning views of winding mountain roads, lush valleys, and traditional Bhutanese settlements, giving you a true first glimpse of the Himalayan kingdom.
En route, visit the serene Kharbandi Gompa, a peaceful monastery surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens of tropical flowers and plants, offering panoramic views of the plains below.
As you approach Thimphu, stop at Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan, now an important center for Buddhist and cultural studies. Its ancient walls and spiritual ambiance reflect the rich heritage of the kingdom.
Continue to the elegant Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa built in memory of Bhutan’s third king, often called the Father of Modern Bhutan. The intricate paintings and sacred statues inside offer deep insight into Buddhist philosophy and Bhutanese spirituality.

Commence your morning with a drive to Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma), popularly known as Buddha Point. Here you will witness the magnificent 51.5-metre bronze statue of Lord Buddha, one of the largest in the world, gracefully overlooking the Thimphu valley. Embark on a scenic morning drive to the enchanting Punakha valley, covering 75 km in 2½ hours. En route, pause at the breathtaking Dochula Pass at 3,100 metres, where on clear days you are rewarded with mesmerizing panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges and the beautifully lined 108 memorial chortens.
Upon arrival in Punakha, spend your afternoon exploring the magnificent Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece situated at the confluence of two rivers. This iconic fortress is one of Bhutan’s most stunning dzongs, rich in history, spirituality, and intricate craftsmanship.
Later, continue to either the serene Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, known for its striking hilltop location and beautiful Buddhist artwork, or visit the sacred Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, surrounded by picturesque village trails and rice fields.

Travel to the picturesque town of Paro, covering 120 km in 3 hours. The drive offers beautiful landscapes of winding rivers, green valleys, and traditional Bhutanese villages along the way.
Begin your exploration with a visit to Drukgyel Dzong, the historic ruined fortress that once defended Bhutan against Tibetan invasions. On clear days, the journey to the dzong rewards you with stunning views of the majestic Mount Chomolhari rising in the distance.
Continue to the fascinating Ta Dzong (National Museum of Bhutan), housed in a former watchtower showcasing a rich collection of Bhutanese art, artifacts, and cultural heritage. From here, enjoy a scenic walk or short drive down to Rinpung Dzong, an impressive fortress-monastery known for its striking architecture and deep historical significance.

The trek takes approximately 4–5 hours round trip, ascending to around 3,100 meters, through scenic pine forests, prayer flags, and breathtaking mountain views. For those who prefer, horse rides are available for part of the ascent up to the viewpoint.

Continue your drive towards Phuentsholing, retracing the picturesque mountain roads and river valleys as you descend toward the border town.
